So fun!! Was a Christmas gift from last year for my dad. Finding a day that worked for everyone was tricky but Ron worked in a custom date to suit everyone. Ron was a great teacher and we came away having learnt some cool techniques and some personalized S hooks. Highly recommend!

We had such a great day and were really pleased with our painting results of our fur babies. Kay, the teacher was very friendly and helpful and obviously skilled as an artist. We had such a great day and were really pleased with our painting results of our fur babies. Kay, the teacher was very friendly and helpful and obviously skilled as an artist. She painted a demo pic using that as a teaching tool on how you did eyes, nose, etc. The demo pet she painted was actually from one of the pictures I’d sent in of my pet, and she captured the face in such detail that it was almost of photo quality. It was so good that I had to buy it. Cost $85. Class set up: - The room itself is small and narrow. There’s really no need nor capacity to move around as you are busy painting. You are sandwiched in quite closely to the person next to you and although the ad says you can BYO your own drinks and snacks to paint and sip, the available room on the table is limited and to be honest, you are so busy painting that there really isn’t time to be sipping and eating! Aprons and 2 paint brushes (1 x large flat + 1 x small for detail) per person are supplied, although you can ask for a different size paint brush if you wish. Access: - The venue doesn’t cater for people with disabilities as it’s upstairs and there is no lift access. Personally, I struggle with stairs due to pain and leg weakness and while I could make it to the top - albeit very slowly, doing so aggravated my pain. The toilet is a single loo, very small and narrow and wouldn’t really suit someone with certain disabilities either. Transport: - There is limited parking in the surrounding streets although it is close to the Kew tram junction. Suggestions for improvement: - Maybe have one person less at each bench to allow for a little bit more elbow room and also provide a water jar for the paintbrushes for each person rather than sharing a water jar. Why? - because one person has to constantly reach across themselves to use the water jar as for one person, it will be situated on their dominant side but for the other, unless they are left handed, it won’t be on their dominant side. Also, if one person is using dark colours in their painting, while the other person is using light colours, inevitably the dark dirty water infiltrates the lighter colours of the other person’s palette particularly as you are encouraged to frequently add water to your paint. Both myself and my friend felt that their seemed to be a lack of a proper introduction as to what to expect of the session at the start. It seemed to be a bit of a rushed “if the music is on, you paint, if it’s off, I’m teaching so listen up” instruction and that was it. At some time during the session, while we were all busy painting, I vaguely recall Kay saying something about other classes but no one was listening as by then we were all busy trying to complete our paintings so this would be better to be moved to the start in the introduction to the session. Although Kay would readily help you if you asked, we both expected that she would have roamed the class a bit more offering individual painting advice to each participant. Overall: - an enjoyable day. Probably not something I would do again in a hurry, not because I didn’t enjoy it but it is sort of a one off thing to do with someone and the cost is also more than I would normally spend on a gift for a friend. + more
