Native Gardens in Pots and Containers Workshop

Learn to grow Australian Native plants in any size garden space in pots and containers

2 hours Class size 1 to 4 guests

$59 (Afterpay available)

When you think of native gardens you may think of large spaces with towering trees. But did you know you can grow just about any Australian native plant in a pot or container?
In this two-hour workshop, your teacher will show you how to grow natives, including trees, shrubs, flowers and groundcovers in pots and containers so you can enjoy the benefits of Australian native plants and wildlife in your courtyard, balcony or any sized garden space.
Your experienced teacher will discuss some basics of native gardening as well as show you examples of fantastic native plantings in containers. You will select two different types of native plants from your teacher's home-grown collection of natives (trees, shrubs, flowers and ground covers) and with guidance and step-by-step instructions, you’ll plant these together into a 200mm pot.
You will also learn about the types of soils and watering requirements for natives to thrive and how to scale up into bigger pots as your plants grow. You’ll see methods to incorporate other types of plants (natives or exotics) into a large planter while you watch small native seedlings grow larger. We will also look at seed sowing some native flower species.
At the end of this workshop, you will have your own potted native plants to take home, the knowledge to plant, grow and care for native plants plus an understanding of native wildlife which may visit your garden.
Just bring yourself (all tools and equipment are provided) and wear something that you don’t mind getting a little dirty. There will be additional plants for sale at the end of the workshop should you wish to carry on your native gardening when you get home.
Come along for an easy-going and informative morning of gardening and chatting!
