Keen to develop the skill of mindfulness but not a fan of sitting still with your eyes closed? In this event, you'll learn about cultivating mindfulness skills through reading.
The event is led by Trish - a meditation teacher and member of the Meditation Association of Australia. She specialises in helping people look beyond traditional meditation methods when it comes to learning and practicing the skill of mindfulness.
Within the 30 days after the event, you can connect with Trish via email to get tailored tips for starting mindful habits that will work for you.
__ What to expect: Workshop __
  • The workshop will run for 1 hour and 30 minutes.
  • When you arrive, you'll be invited to find a spot to get settled in with your book. There will be a range of seating options available.
  • Trish will teach 2 “mindful reading” techniques and you'll be able to practice them during 2 x 15min reading sessions.
  • The first technique will be about reading as a hands-on mindfulness exercise.
  • The second technique will be about making your existing habit of reading a mindful experience.
  • Between reading sessions, Trish will answer questions and invite participants to share their experience with the mindful reading techniques.
__ What to expect: Meet and Greet session __
After the workshop, the event space will be open until 1.30pm so you can stay on to:
  • Get advice from Trish about how to start mindful habits that will work for you
  • Meet other participants and exchange book recommendations

  • Headphones/earphones if you will be listening to an audiobook
  • Props for getting into a comfy reading position - e.g. a pillow, a yoga mat if you wish to lie down

  • A fiction book with lots of rich descriptions would work well for the techniques you'll learn in the workshop
  • Consider bringing a book you've read before so you can choose chapters/passages that would be suitable
