What you'll do
Spin your worries away at Bettina Stevanovic's pottery wheel workshop and learn to make your very own moss planter from scratch. In this beginner-friendly class, you will learn how to make a ceramic moss planter with a mushroom-shaped self-watering feature with guidance from friendly expert Bettina herself! You will start the class by making the base of the planter on the pottery wheel. Bettina will guide you through each step and demonstrate how to use simple techniques confidently on the pottery wheel. After you finish the base pot, you will make the mushroom cap by freely shaping the clay. Various ceramic colours will be provided so you can customize your own design and show off your unique personal style! If you're looking for mindful and meditative yet creative Sydney workshops, why not try out this pottery wheel workshop for beginners. You'll leave feeling relaxed with new skills to practice too! Please note:
- Your moss planter will be kiln-fired and ready for collection two weeks after the class.
- Moss will not be included, but Bettina can happily share her tips on where you can collect or buy your own moss.
Knowledge required
This is a beginner-friendly class, no prior experience in pottery is necessary.

What to bring
Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes and wear something you don't mind getting clay on. You can bring your own apron if you wish.

Stay tuned for updates on new offerings at our new location in Matraville. Bettina offers a unique therapeutic approach to pottery, drawing on her psychology background (PhD) and sensorimotor art therapy training. Her 'Wheelfuness' approach incorporates somatic mindfulness to enhance presence and stillness at the spinning wheel.Bettina's pottery journey began as a hobby in 2015. As an academic with a busy mind, she found the tactile nature of working with clay very relaxing. In 2019, she opened her own studio and has since enjoyed helping others discover the zen of pottery.To further explore the therapeutic benefits of working with clay, Bettina recently undertook training in Clay Field Therapy® and now also offers somatic clay therapy sessions.
