In this workshop, every student is a budding bookbinder, ready to unleash their crafting skills and make something truly special. You’ll embark on a journey into the art of bookbinding, guided by our friendly, expert teachers, and discover the joy of creating your very own books from scratch.
We’ll start with an introduction to the world of bookbinding, providing step-by-step instructions. You’ll learn about different types of books, the tools involved, and how to assemble your pages into beautiful creations.
The morning will focus on mastering traditional techniques like 3- and 5-hole pamphlet binding and Japanese stab binding. You’ll enjoy making your own notebooks, sketchbooks, and journals.
In the afternoon, the focus shifts to creativity. You’ll design and craft your own sketchbook diaries using printmaking, drawing, and painting techniques to add your personal touch.
All tools and materials are provided, and you’ll have the chance to choose your favourite materials, including colourful papers and sturdy card stock, to personalise your books. Expect to leave with an armful of beautiful books!
