In this exciting dessert class, children will learn to make delicious Korean tteok from scratch!
Tteok is a traditional dessert that people often eat as a snack or breakfast in Korea. Lots of parents give tteok to their children as a healthier alternative to the usual treats.
Hosted by friendly teacher Elin, this culinary workshop is a brilliant chance for kids to have fun with a unique dessert recipe. The dough, made of rice flour, will be prepared before the children arrive, so they can dive straight into making animal shapes like bears, chickens and pigs in the first hour of the class.
Rather than just following Elin's designs, kids will get to exercise their endless artistic capabilities as they enjoy creating their own designs to shape between one and three pieces of tteok (depending on the sizes they make).
As the tteok steams for 30 minutes, your child will learn to draw custom menus using coloured pencils and pretty paper!
Then, it's time to eat! Tteok is best when eaten fresh, straight from the steamer. A tasty variety of dips and sauces, like ketchup, honey, and Nutella, will be on offer for dipping their delicious snacks, with plenty left in a gift box for sharing with family.
Allergy Information:
The dough used contains rice flour and Queen food colouring.
For the kids' class, some parents ask if they could stay and watch the kids. We would first want to apologise that it is not an option we can offer. As much as we understand the parents wanting to be with their children and make sure it is safe, the studio can only handle a limited number of people at a time. More importantly, from our previous experience, when parents are there with the children, children tend to communicate more with their parents (which makes sense) and this further delays the class, and often results in a less fun class.
It is a two-hour class, and the studio is located in the centre of Sydney, so take your time to do grocery shopping that's been on the to-do list, or have a fun shopping time :). There are several nice parks nearby, so you can have a nice walk too. Think of it as a short day-care where you can simply drop off your kid.
During the class, we make short video clips and take pictures which will be sent to the parents upon request, and if it is ok, (with consent) We'll post it on our Instagram. We hope this is ok, and hopefully, this will give a nice memory/experience to the kids.
I'm Sorry, but I cannot accept NSW Kids vouchers.

Hello!
I'm Elin from Korea. I studied Art in France and Kids Art Therapy in Korea. I also obtained certificates in making flower rice cake and needle felting.
Ever since I started teaching Korean language to French students and art to kids in France, I’ve been teaching for 18 years to all sorts of age groups ranging from 2 to 70 years old.
As much as I love seeing students smiling during the class, I always do my best to make sure my class is fun and easy. Also, I consider final results of the class are very important. But you don’t have to worry even if you don’t have any prior experience in arts. I will help you to easily follow the class and enjoy the amazing results at the end of the class.
Primary goal for Elin’s Classes for kids is to make sure that kids can spend the happiest time. Kids also need fun stress-relieving activities just like adults, in order to keep them happy without any worries. Fun and creative crafts, using various materials, will help boost kids’ creativity.
My professional background has always been about kids, which I loved a lot. I used to be a team manager at a well-known education company in Seoul. After that, I taught kids as a private tutor for 7 years. Most of my students took my class for a long time until I left Korea, and we have been in touch with each other although I moved to Sydney 3 years ago. I can be the best mentor for your kids, not just a teacher.
I hope we can enjoy a class together soon!
