Reclaimed Woodblock Printing Workshop

Discover how to use upcycled wood to create bold and expressive prints

4 hours Class size 10 to 14 guests     $85
In this print making workshop in Sydney, you'll learn the fundamental techniques of woodblock printing using repurposed plywood.
Woodblock printing (similar to Lino printing) is a super approachable
method of making prints with bold and classic results.
Discover the joy of bringing your hand-carved ideas to life on paper. We'll provide a small printmaking press and offer guidance on hand printing methods for home use so you can be set up for success.
If you’ve already got a bright idea in mind, you can bring an image from home—the workshop will cover how to easily transfer these to woodblocks.
Your teacher, Fergus, will also share tips and tricks for utilising other reclaimed materials, and what you can do with your woodblock once you’ve finished printing.
No prior woodblock or printmaking experience is needed! Just come ready with a creative outlook and this workshop will do the rest---equipping you with the skills to craft stunning woodblock prints that leave a lasting impression.
*Please note: the images above use a Lino block, however, the process is the same as for woodblock printing.

Fergus Berney-Gibson is a multidisciplinary Australian artist working across expanded printmaking, drawing and photomedia. They have been involved in exhibitions at the 2019 and 2020 Queer Contemporary and have editioned prints held in RMIT, USQ and Curtain
