1 hour Class size 1 to 20 guests

  $35 - $38 ($38 per guest when you book for 1 guest, $35/guest for 2+ guests)

Keen to develop the skill of mindfulness but not a fan of sitting still with your eyes closed or the "woo woo" stuff associated with traditional meditation? In this workshop, you’ll learn mindfulness exercises that use books and the act of reading as “anchors” for meditative focus.
The workshop will be guided by Trish - a meditation teacher and member of the Meditation Association of Australia. She specialises in helping people look beyond traditional meditation methods and discover ways to practise mindfulness without the “woo-woo stuff”.
  • What to expect:
  • The workshop will run for 1 hour.
  • The event space can be accessed by lift.
  • Feel free to arrive 10-15 minutes early so you can grab a drink from Gleebook’s onsite cafe before you get settled in.

What you'll get
As part of the workshop, Trish will teach various mindful reading exercises and you'll be able to practise them during short reading sessions.
Between the reading sessions, Trish will invite you to ask questions and share your experience of the mindful reading exercises.
You’ll learn three mindful reading exercises:
  • You will learn to use a physical book as an anchor for meditative focus.
  • You will learn to practise the principles of mindfulness through reading-oriented activities.
  • You will learn ways to make reading a restorative experience during times you’d like to wind down.
What to bring
  • A physical book to use for the first exercise. You may also use this book for the other two exercises.
  • If you prefer to listen to books, bring your digital device and headphones for the second and third exercises.
  • If you prefer to read e-books, bring your digital device for the second and third exercises.
Fiction would work best for the exercises Trish will share.
To prepare for the second and third exercises, bookmark a few passages that depict scenes/environments that are neutral or bring up positive feelings.

____ About Trish, founder of Mindful Makers and Doers Club ____
Mindfulness is a valuable skill for navigating the ups and downs of life. Meditation is just one of the many ways to practice mindfulness.
As a meditation teacher, I'm on a mission to show that meditation - the practice of focusing your attention in a particular way - doesn't have to be about sitting still with eyes closed. I help people look beyond traditional meditation methods and discover hands-on ways to practice mindfulness minus the “woo-woo stuff”.
I'm also passionate about making mindfulness more accessible to more people. I advocate the concept of "equitable mindfulness" by teaching secular techniques that cater to different needs and preferences, as well as budgets and schedules.
