Kintsugi Art Workshop for Beginners

Learn the ancient Japanese art of Kintsugi in Redfern

3 hours Class size 10 to 15 guests     $140

It’s time to turn those broken heirlooms into new treasures with the art of Kintsugi – a craft and artistic practice that celebrates the flaws and imperfections of a piece.

In this three-hour hands-on workshop, you will learn the fundamentals of Kintsugi Art. You will be guided through this centuries-old Japanese method step by step whilst using more accessible and affordable materials.
The process includes the repair of ceramic pieces, reinforcement, followed by decorative finishes with the Japanese Makie technique using lacquer and gold metal powder.
After completing this class, you will be able to repair your own damaged items at home with confidence. Plus, you'll take home the piece you repaired during class too!
Please note: This class requires at least five students to run. In the unlikely event that we don't get this number of students, we'll cancel the class and fully refund you and inform you via email, so please watch your email a few days prior to the class.
