Jia (Jane) Xu, a graduate of the prestigious Ohara Ikebana School, will be your teacher for the class and is eager to share her passion for flowers with you.
The session includes:
Introduction
What is Ikebana?
The Schools of Ikebana
Major Ikebana arrangement styles
Ohara School and its basic forms
Ikebana Basics
Tools and sundries
Flower preparation and care
Basic techniques of Ikebana
Practical Learning component / Demonstration and Practice:
Item 1: Hana-Isho Rising Form
Item 2: Hana-Isho Inclining Form
By the end of the class, you can take home your unique Ikebana arrangement, ready to add some elegance to your space.

We are very close to the Sydney road no19 tram and Anstey station if you are travelling by PT. If travelling by car, parking is tricky on Duckett St, but there are carparks near us on the corner of Breese st and Hope St, as well as on the corner of Breese St and Florence st.

Born in China, Jane has a background in architecture where she has both worked and lectured extensively on the subject. In recent years, Jane’s work has moved in another direction where her interest in design has further flourished through the study and practice of floristry.

Since graduating from the Ohara school in 2017, Jane has completed her Certificate III in Floristry as well as her Certificate IV in Training and Assessment at Box Hill Institute. An experienced and talented florist, she now teaches casually at CAE and a number of other private institutions.
Jane’s passion for nature extends to almost everything flower-related including the planting, arranging, and pressing of flowers.
