Like this pair of sneakers you see? In three hours, you can learn to crochet some super cute motifs to pimp up your shoes, bags or anything wearable. The workshop covers basic crochet stitches and some simple hand sewing to attach embellishments to your desired piece.
All materials provided but please bring your own wearables that you would like to decorate; they should have a fabric surface for sewing.
No crocheting experience? No problem! Your teacher Amy will guide you step-by-step through the process so you can relax and learn a new skill with ease.
By the end of the class, you can take home your newly decorated shoes or bags!
Please note: Images are for reference; this workshop does not include crocheting with beads, and we may not get through every single motif shown in the photos.

I am a fibre-based interdisciplinary artist based in Cammeraygal/North Sydney. I hold a Bachelor of Architectural Studies from the University of New South Wales, and a Master of Fine Arts from the Fibre department at the Cranbrook Academy of Art.
My practice stems from a fascination with kawaii culture, psychoanalysis and craft histories. Drawing influences from manga and anime, I employ textile techniques to investigate the ambivalent nature of issues concerning infantilisation, fetish, domesticity and more.
In many cultures, textiles have functioned as a narrative historical device before the invention of written language. Yet for centuries language has played a major role in reinforcing the patriarchy. I believe in the power of the subversive stitch, and hope that by sharing my knowledge of fibre practices, others will be encouraged to experiment with needlecraft and establish a sense of agency.
