What you'll do
Join Rebecca from Made by Me Workshop for this artisan soap making class in Sydney and learn how to make your own natural, skin-nourishing soap loaf that is good for you, good for the earth and so much fun to create!During this class, you will be using the cold process method to create your soap. You will discover how to work safely with lye, how to mix your ingredients and how to incorporate aromatic essential oil blends and beautiful botanicals. The best part about making your own soap is that you know exactly what goes into your soap and onto your skin, the cold process method preserves the therapeutic properties of the essential oils making it a perfect addition to your daily routine or a beautiful gift for your loved ones. What you will learn:
- Working knowledge of the cold process soap making method
- How to safely work with Lye (caustic soda) which is essential to the soap-making method.
- How to add essential oils and botanicals while preserving their properties.
- Which tools and equipment you will need to continue making soap at home.
- How to de-mould, cut, store and cure your soap.

Knowledge required
This workshop is suitable for absolute beginners with no prior experience necessary. Because of the use of Lye, we do not recommend this class for pregnant woman or children under the age of 16 years.
What you'll get
- Your handmade soap loaf that can be cut down to approximately eight to ten bars.
- A beautiful selection of oils, butters, clays and botanicals to personalise your soap.
- A soap mould to take home.
- A handout containing information, supplier details and Rebecca's favourite soap making recipe!
What to bring
You will be taking your soap home with you, it is a good idea to bring a towel to wrap it in and a bag or bog to carry it home - you'll need to keep your loaf snug and warm for 24 hours!Safety note: Lye is an incredibly strong chemical that requires extreme caution. Because of this, we recommend wearing a long-sleeved shirt, pants and enclosed shoes. Please don't worry we will teach you how to handle it safely so you won't have any issues.
