Explore the art of punch needle in this beginner friendly punch needling workshop where you will create your own Australian native work of art!
Punch needle brings together the best of embroidery and rug hooking in a fun and efficient way and is the most fun you can have with a ball of yarn! It is the perfect choice for those who are interested in the latest TikTok craft of tufting but would rather something more portable that you can continue to enjoy as a new hobby from home.
The techniques are easy to learn and once mastered you will be able to create amazing works of fibre art. In this class, you can choose to create one of our native birds or try one of our native florals.
You can choose to create one of the below designs when booking for the workshop (see images for reference):
  • Banksia
  • Waratah
  • Wattle
  • Cockatoo
  • Kookaburra
  • Rainbow Lorikeet
  • Your own design
You are also very welcome to create your own design or choose another of our many designs when you arrive at the workshop - let us know ahead of the class if you have any specific requests.
This workshop is suitable for beginners and experienced punchers who want to explore new techniques. We will take you through the steps to stretch your fabric onto your hoop, transfer your design onto your fabric, we will teach you all the essential punch needle tips and tricks and also show you how to create pile and sculpt this to create amazing three-dimensional effects.
If you're inspired to create more than one design, they are also available as DIY kits so you can complete the set once you've learnt all the tips and tricks!

Made by Me Workshop is about helping people to connect with their "inner creative" and have some fun while making beautiful things from quality materials in our friendly & vibrant studio space in the heart of the inner west!
Established in 2017 after Rebecca Doyle decided to take a career break and chose to revisit her childhood love for arts & crafts. Rebecca grew up in a large family where money was tight, after school activities where mostly homegrown and usually involved a sheet of cardboard, a glue stick and some glitter! It is probably no surprise to learn that Rebecca followed a creative path to study Fashion & Textile Design at University!
After a few more decades (than Rebecca will publicly admit to) and a long and varied career in the fashion industry, Rebecca wanted to get back to creating beautiful, one-of-a-kind objects - Made By Me Workshop is the result of where this path led.
Rebecca loves that moment of pride that comes over each participant's face when they look at what they have created and say to themselves "Wow - I made this & I love it!"
Made by Me Workshop run a variety of creative workshops, hen’s parties, private parties and corporate events from their warehouse space in St Peters including Resin Art, Resin Jewellery & Mould Making, Soap Making, Terrazzo Homewares, Punch Needle, Macrame and many more.
