If you've ever wanted to try making pottery on the wheel, come along and play with clay at our four-week wheel-throwing course for beginners! Each class is two hours and no experience is required.
Your tutor will demonstrate how to throw some simple shapes on the pottery wheel, including clay preparation, centring clay on the wheel and shaping your pot. With a maximum of 6 participants in each class, you'll get lots of personal attention.
You'll also learn to trim and turn your best pots and have them bisque-fired, so you can glaze them, ready for their final firing, to pick up later.
Over the four weeks, use studio tools and six kilos of stoneware clay to make your pieces and fire your best six pieces. You can purchase more clay at $25 a bag. Additional fees apply if you'd like your own pottery tool starter kit.
Sustainability is very important to us, so all unfired clay is reused and we recycle most of our water too.
Please note:
  • This class is for anyone 12 years or older and will be limited to a maximum of seven students per class, so you'll get the attention you need.
  • You must be available on the set dates (no makeup classes).
