Freestyle Sewing Workshop for Beginners

BYO project or upcycle!

2 hours Class size 1 to 8 guests

  $50 (Afterpay available)

It's never too late to learn how to sew!
In these freestyle sewing sessions, you can drop in however often you like and get some guidance for your chosen sewing project. Lucy will help you learn new skills and techniques (and show you sewing hacks to make it easier!).
All sewing workshops are beginner-friendly, no experience necessary. The price includes facilitation of your project and basic materials (sewing thread and tools, individual sewing machines, and access to an overlocker).
This workshop at Tiny Cupboard Creatives Studio in Bentleigh promises a fun and supportive environment where you'll delve into the basics of sewing before diving into your chosen project.
It truly is a cupboard! Not just a name. Very limited space for parents/carers - drop off and pick up of kids preferred.
Embrace the spirit of 'macht', to do or make in German, and explore your creativity through sewing. Take your first step into the world of sewing with confidence, knowing that Lucy will be there to guide you through the process.
Come and enjoy an afternoon filled with creativity, learning, and the joy of creating something with your hands. Unleash your inner maker and take home not just a completed project but also the newfound confidence in your sewing skills. Feel proud of what you've accomplished all by yourself!
Note: If you miss a class due to illness, you can attend a replacement session at a later time. In the rare event that Lucy cancels a class due to illness, credits will be offered.

Hi there! I started my small business Lucy macht in July 2024 to scratch that creative itch I wasn't getting from secondary teaching. I've been a sewer since learning in high school, worked at a fabric store for several years, self-taught to extend my skills and love all things handmade! My passion for colour, dogs and sparking joy in the little things is what drives me everyday!
With 6 years of experience teaching languages; English as an additional language to new refugees, to German from Year 7 - 12, I love helping and witnessing people learn a new skill and confidence in something they've never tried before. I've been told I'm incredibly patient, calm and personable; perfect ingredients for a cosy vibe right? I would love to teach fresh beginners to intermediates who are looking to learn a new technique.
Something I love about sewing; YOU GET TO MAKE THINGS EXIST. "I wish it had...XYZ" Nekminnit, I've made something for that. "Urgh it doesn't have any pockets"..."not anymore it doesn't!"
After a workshop (or two!) I hope you guys can walk away with a new found appreciation of how things are made, especially in today's fast-fashion world, whilst also unlocking all the possibilities sewing gives you!
