In this course, your teacher, Arafat will guide you on how to create stunning watercolour paintings with a focus on visual storytelling, and the importance of space and composition. With these few simple techniques, you will be equipped to create aesthetically pleasing and visually captivating artworks.
Course outline:
Week one:
  • How to create effective watercolour wash and blending.
  • how to create effective texture.
Week two:
  • Creating mood, temperature of painting.
  • Light and shade - How important role played by value in watercolour
Week three:
  • Creating three dimensional object.
  • Light and shade and light source.
Week four:
  • Still life study (flower vase)
  • Colour plate/ application of warm and cool colour
Week five:
  • Landscape painting
  • How to draw sketchy human figure in landscape painting
Week six:
  • Effective composition
  • Creating a centre of interest in painting
By the end of the course, you will have created your own masterpiece to take home, as well as some new watercolour painting skills!

Pencil, brush, watercolour paper 300gsm and water pot.

This class series runs over 6 consecutive sessions, at the same time every 2 weeks.

I am Arafat Hosen, an artist and educator with fourteen years of teaching experience as an Assistant Professor in Bangladesh, currently residing in Sydney. As both a practitioner and teacher, I specialize in guiding students to develop confidence and enthusiasm in their creative process. I focus on fostering dedication and practice to shape artistic growth in mediums such as watercolor, sketching, pen and ink, and painting. My teaching experience includes workshops and classes with the Royal Art Society of Gold Coast and Sydney Community College, where student outcomes and satisfaction have been consistently high.
