*This "Ink&Nature" workshop is more focused on pen drawing, we'll use watercolour for colouring.
Join us to explore the art of scientific botanical illustration with expert Angus Fisher. In this masterclass, Fisher will share his extensive knowledge and techniques in the field of botanical illustration. The class covers detailed drawing methods, capturing natural intricacies, and applying traditional techniques to contemporary art. Whether you're a plant enthusiast or an artist, this course will offer you new insights and skill enhancement.
Class Outline:
Learn how to accurately observe and depict objects from the natural world using traditional natural history illustration techniques. Drawing from natural objects, botanical specimens and taxidermy, participants will each create a small drawing while learning the principals and processes of scientific illustration. The class will focus on ink pen drawing techniques but will also include elements of watercolour painting.
Artist Bio
Angus Fisher is a practicing artist and teacher at the National Art School. Angus exhibits regularly and is represented by ‘Australian Galleries’ in Australia and Jonathan ‘Cooper Gallery’ in the UK. Angus’ work history also includes botanical, zoological and archaeological illustration work for various private clients and institutions.
You'll learn basic techniques, including perspectives (how to draw objects based on their distance and angle to you), sketching (drawing outlines with pencils to then overlay with watercolour), and watercolour techniques (like how you should draw different textures).
You'll be amazed by how much you'll learn in a short amount of time, and the stunning illustrations you'll create!

I've been drawing since when I was a kid, I picked up watercolour as I really like the visuals you can achieve with that medium.
I taught some art workshops while I was in uni, and later continued it part-time. But I was passionate enough that I switched over to do this full time.
I draw in my diaries as a creative way to record my daily life and memories.
I particularly love drawing food (I just love food too much) and still life.
I find watercolour painting to be a very therapeutic hobby.
Hope to see you at one of my future classes!

Just wondering if there will be smocks/aprons provided on the day?
Customer

I don’t have any, but the painting we’re going to do is small scale with watercolour, you won’t be needing smock or apron:))
