Never one to throw anything away, Sky created a way of turning all her left-over yarn and fabric scraps into arty, crafty rope. A natural evolution of events follower where she started coiling this rope into gorgeous, colourful, decorative baskets. Now it’s your turn!

Learning her rope making technique means you will never throw away a yarn scrap or item of clothing again! The rope doesn’t only have to be made into baskets but can become rugs, jewellery and wall art… the applications are only limited by your imagination.

In this workshop, you will learn how to make the rope and then coil into a basket. All materials and much crafty wisdom provided.

Please note: This class requires at least five students to run. In the unlikely event that we don't get this number of students, we'll cancel the class and fully refund you and inform you via email, so please watch your email a few days prior to the class

Sky Carter is a Sydney based free form weaver and colour designer.

Part of the New Craft Movement (a global ‘happening’ where art meets design meets craft) she chooses weaving and tapestry as her vehicle for creative expression, motivated by the textural and sculptural effects that can be achieved.

All her pieces are unique one-offs influenced by global or local trends that Sky observes around her. Her works are also a response to deep internal forces and obsessions (pink and gold!). Sky is also a collector and curator of ‘things’ she loves, organized and harmoniously styled clutter, and has a strong interior design philosophy of layering, layering, layering! Her woven wall art is a natural extension of this.
