Discover the fascinating art of setting for faceted stones in this hands-on class in Melbourne!
Suitable for complete beginners to people who have intermediate metalworking skills, this class provides the perfect opportunity to learn how to set your own stones.
In this class, you'll explore two different types of setting techniques: flush and star, and gain the skills to create stunning and unique designs. As a bonus, you'll be given a link on how to make a custom needle burnishing tool too.
Throughout the class, you'll be guided by an experienced teacher who will provide expert advice, tips and demonstrations.
Delve into the basics of graver preparation, including how to put handles on your gravers and tailor them to your hand size requirements.
You'll also master the art of shaping, sharpening, polishing, and maintaining your tools by hand. There is an "add-on" option included for us to purchase your gravers and handles for you when you book ($80). Or you can request we send you the tool list and you will then purchase them prior to your class.
By the end of this course, you'll have newfound knowledge and skills needed to continue your own setting work. You'll also take home setting blanks and stones for you to continue to practise with.

Knowledge required
Some basic metalworking skills are required - not suitable for absolute beginners.
