In this fun and informative sports nutrition cooking class, you will discover how to create nutritious meals that will fuel your active lifestyle. We will first have a 30-minute nutrition presentation on the basics of sports nutrition, learning about macro and micronutrients and appropriate timing and quantity of food in relation to your sport and energy expenditure. We will then move into the kitchen and prepare a meal that aligns with the basic principles of sports nutrition. I will teach you how to adjust the macronutrients - depending on how active you are and your sport and health goals. This is called Culinary Nutrition - learning nutrition through the practical application of cooking. Doesn't that sound fun!
Don't worry if you're new to cooking – this workshop is designed to be interactive and beginner-friendly. You’ll be guided through each step of the recipes using fresh ingredients and simple techniques to bring out the best flavours.
During the class, you'll have the opportunity to work with a variety of kitchen tools and equipment, gaining confidence in your culinary skills. By the end of the session, you’ll leave with a healthy recipe and the knowledge to make them at home. Get ready to elevate your nutrition game and enjoy the benefits of wholesome, homemade meals.

Food Is Medicine Kitchens offers more than just cooking classes. As a qualified clinical practising Nutritionist, Edwina offers a nutrition seminar covering the latest research on a particular topic such as heart health / brain health / sports nutrition. Then together with a well known Chef Katie Ridgeway, we cook a recipe that reflects the health recommendations. Finally we eat the delicious meal we have prepared. These classes are both informative, fun and educational.
