Sniff and Learn Workshop

Learn about your sense of smell in Melbourne!

2 hours Class size 1 to 20 guests

$85 (Afterpay available)

Come spend an evening delving into the world of smell with Erin from Smell Art in Melbourne.
You’ll get a chance to play some smell games and put your taste buds to the test. We’ll discuss the connection between smell, memories, and emotions, and explore how we communicate through chemosignals.
No previous knowledge or experience required – all are welcome!
At the end of the workshop, we will have some free smelling time. If you would like to, please bring along a smell to share. Things you could bring include; objects with a scent from around your home, strange perfume ingredients, unusual essential oils, etc. - the more interesting the better!
Please note:
  • As part of the workshop, you will have the option to smell and taste a variety of things. If you have any allergies or dietary requirements, please let us know when booking. And finally, try and come along smelling fairly neutral - clean but not overly perfumed by products is perfect as there will be the option to smell others and be smelled.
  • Access: Other Goods & Services is not wheelchair accessible. If you have any specific access requirements, please note them when booking and we'll be in touch to work with you.

Smell Art

Hi, I'm Erin Adams, and I started Smell Art because I believe that scent is an incredibly important part of our everyday lives and it is the perfect way to combine my love for art and science.
As a society, we tend to prioritize sight and sound over smell, and I'm passionate about helping people realize the potential that scent has to enrich our experiences and deepen our connection with the world around us.
My interest in olfactory art began in 2007 at a scented music concert in Melbourne. Since then, I've been immersing myself in the world of olfactory art, practicing scent design, attending workshops and exhibitions, and reading everything I can get my hands on about the science of smell and scent design. I am inspired by the Institute for Art and Olfaction in LA and am committed to being part of the Open Source Smell Culture they've fostered.
I'm excited to share my passion for scent and smell education with you and to help you discover the incredible potential that scent has to enhance art, events, and everyday life.
