Wheel Throwing
Ready to elevate your wheel throwing skills to the next level? Our six-week intermediate course is designed to provide you with a deeper understanding of wheel throwing and the ceramics process, from making and trimming to glazing and kiln firing. This hands-on experience goes beyond the basics, focusing on techniques to create larger and more complex forms.
Under the guidance of our experienced instructor, you will delve into the nuances of wheel throwing, gaining better control and precision. The course strikes a balance between group demonstrations and personalised attention, ensuring that you receive the individual guidance needed to reach your full potential.
Our extended 2.5-hour sessions are spread across six weeks and explore advanced techniques in a supportive and creative environment.
To join this intermediate course, completion of at least one beginner’s course is required, either with us or elsewhere. Confidence in centering clay on the wheel and pulling walls to create a cylinder is necessary. Wear closed-toe shoes, comfortable clothing, and bring a towel each week – because, in the world of pottery, getting a little dirty is part of the fun!
Our small class sizes ensure you receive ample one-on-one feedback and attention, making it an ideal continuation for those who have completed a beginner's course. Each session provides you with your own bag of clay, an apron, tools, and, of course, a dedicated pottery wheel for hands-on learning.
As you immerse yourself in this enriching experience, not only will you refine your wheel throwing skills, but you'll also have the opportunity to unleash your creativity. At the conclusion of the course, take pride in your newfound skills and carry home a collection of beautifully crafted pottery pieces – tangible evidence of your journey through the art of wheel throwing. Join us, and let's mold your artistic aspirations into reality!
