Throughout the class, you will explore various hand-building techniques, such as pinch pots, slab construction, and coil building. Our experienced teacher will guide you step-by-step, showing you how to mould and shape the clay to transform it into functional and decorative pieces of pottery. From cups and bowls to vases and sculptures, you will have the opportunity to create your own personalised works of art to take home.
The class will provide all the materials you need, including clay and basic tools. As you immerse yourself in this creative activity, you may feel a sense of relaxation and fulfilment as you work with your hands and bring your imagination to life. There is something truly rewarding about creating something with your own hands, and this workshop will allow you to tap into your artistic talents.
Your teacher Shelley has a background in pottery, sculpture, jewellery making, painting and drawing. Tori is an expert in supporting you to tap into your creative potential and show you how to shape your wildest idea into a take-home art piece.

Details below:
Each workshop comes with one of your creations to be glazed and fired in our kilns. The pieces are safe for food and drink, and are microwave, dishwasher, and oven safe, just like your standard dinnerware. Any additional work you would like glazed and fired are $20 each. The pieces shrink %15 from the time you make your work to them being removed from the kiln. The clay we use is a buff and speckled stoneware, and the glaze is white only. More colour choices are offered in our term programs. Your work can be saved to decorate if you'd like to paint them in our paint, or paint and sip workshops, but you will have to book on the spot to lock this in.
Each workshop must have at least 4 participants to go ahead, so after booking, you may be called or texted to move to another workshop time that has at least 4 participants if you are a group of 1-3. This will always be a time that works for your schedule.
You are provided 500 grams of clay to make pieces during your workshop time. You can purchase another 500 grams of clay for $20 if you would like additional work glazed and fired. Depending on the workshop size, you will be asked to stop roughly 10 minutes before the end of the workshop to wash your hands and select the pieces you would like to be fired. Our staff will clean the tools so that you have more time to make work.
Please show up at least 5 minutes before the workshop time. The workshop unfortunately cannot wait for you if you are late and you would be missing the very important demonstration which has a big impact on your success. You will be asked to remove any watches or jewellery and place your personal belongings on the large tables in one of our 3 studios. Long nails make the process more challenging, but we have some techniques we can provide you to make it easier with nails. If you arrive after 6 on weekdays or anytime on weekends, you will need to call the studio upon arrival so that we can let you through the gate l. We have 6 car parks in front of the studio. They are all in front of and between unit 2 and unit 3's roller doors. Please do not park in any other car parks as they are for other businesses. Outside the gate there is unlimited free parking.
Your work will be completed in 4-6 weeks after your workshop date. You will be contacted by text, call, or email when your work is complete. When you receive this notification you will have exactly 2 weeks to pick your work up. We are unable to keep work beyond the 2 weeks due to space issues and the large volume of work being cycled through. Come back to the studio from 10-5 M-F for pick up. Your pieces will be in chronological order, and your name/s will be on the bag and on a shelf as you walk into the studio. We unfortunately cannot ship your work.
If you enjoy your experience please leave us a 5 star review. All confirmed 5 star reviews are given a %10 discount towards any workshop we offer.

Please note: Public dates for this class require at least 2 guests to run. In the unlikely event that we don't reach this number, we'll cancel the class; in this case we'll inform you and allow you to get a refund or reschedule, so please watch your email/SMS one day prior to the class.
