What you'll do
Students will learn basic skills to communicate with Deaf people on a variety of everyday topics.The beginner courses are offered in a fun, informal, and relaxed in-person setting.Students will learn:
- Greeting others and introducing themselves
- Giving and requesting personal details such as phone numbers and addresses
- Counting in Auslan
- Fingerspelling in Auslan
- Asking and answering simple questions (using "who", "what", "when", "where", etc.)
- Learning practical vocabulary, including colours, days of the week and family members
- Developing effective visual-gestural communication skills
- Learning about the Deaf Community and its culture
- Practicing effective communication strategies for interacting with Deaf people
