In this fun class you will learn basic techniques of clay working, how to apply these techniques, and how to build on from there.
You will learn and apply texture- and expression.
After a short break, you will use underglaze to colour your work.
A great way to approach your creature is to just let it appear, and grow during your class. This will give you lots of freedom for creating! If you do have an idea on an animal you want to do- bring photos. I will help you create in a way that works in clay.
This is all super fun and do-able, and you can put as much creativity as you want in your project.
The class will run for about 4, max 5 hours, with a break in between. You can bring your own snacks and drinks- glasses are available. Coffee and tea provided.
Since Clay has to dry slowly before it can be fired to a temperature which makes it suitable for outside, You will be able to pick up your project in about 4 weeks.
Your teacher.
Aukje van Vark, your teacher, is a very experienced, award winning sculptor, who creates mainly animals. She works in ceramics, ciment fondu, resin, steel and bronze/ wax. Because - why limit yourself?
You can find her work online, in sculpture shows and in galleries.
This workshop is for 8-10 people maximum, so will allow plenty of time for individual attention. You will each get plenty clay, and start from the beginning, and will be guided all the way to a joyful endproduct.
Everything that is needed will be available, including ideas for texture and lots of colours and examples to give inspiration for your project.
