Looking for creative school holiday ideas that will make your kids feel good? This Melbourne printing workshop is super fun and helps children achieve creative results they will be proud of.
In this NEW exciting and fun workshop, children will learn to print in different ways using acrylic paint. Activities are accessible to all ages, with activities matched to children's ages. (Older children can do more complex processes/activities)
  • Layered Botanical Print Painting: We will create a 'print painting' on a small 20 x 20 cm canvas using leaves which we will layer on top of each other.
  • Printing with Objects: We will print onto paper using household objects and maybe even some fruit.
  • Printing using a gelli plate and/or silicone mat: Children will be introduced to the wonder of a gelli plate/silicone mat, where we create our print by rolling paint onto the surface and using objects or 'masks' to create patterns - building up our creation in reverse and printing onto paper.
NO painting experience is needed.
This class is for children 6 years to 16 years. Parents/carers may stay as participants, observers, or helpers, but this is not required unless your child needs individualised support. (Please let us know if you want to stay as a helper in the checkout comments as we have limited places for additional non-participants and need to manage social distancing and seating). If your child is not able to follow instructions or needs more support than 1 staff to 8 children can provide, then please discuss with Julie prior to booking.
All art will be able to be taken home after the class.
Experienced teacher Julie will support your kids through their vibrant journey of acrylic pouring. Julie has a current Working with Children Check, Police Check, and NDIS screening check. You can be at ease knowing your child/ren are in caring, professional, and qualified hands.
Participants will learn:
  • How to print using acrylic paint
  • How to print with leaves and objects
  • Introduction to using a brayer (roller) and gelli plate
Please note:
  • Parents/carers may stay as observers or helpers, but this is not required unless your child needs individualised support. (Please let us know if you want to stay in the checkout comments.) If your child is not able to follow instructions or needs more support than one staff to eight children can provide, then please discuss this with Julie prior to booking.
  • Parents/carers may also participate with their child (and book a ticket), but only one adult per child or group of children.
  • Fluid art needs to lie flat to dry, so it cannot be taken home on the day. It can be picked up from the studio in two to three days’ time.

Knowledge required
No prior knowledge or skills required.

What you'll get
  • Participants are provided with all supplies provided including non-toxic acrylic paint, gloves, an apron, tools, 20 x 20 cm canvas, a variety of paper, and use of a gelli plate.
  • Drinking water will be provided.
What to bring
We use acrylic paint that is non-toxic. Remember to wear old clothes as it can be a messy business, and while the paint will wash out if you get to it quickly, that is not always easy to do.

ACRYLIC PAINTING, COLLAGE, DRAWING
Setareh Hosseini is now leading acrylic painting and other art forms at the Live For Art Studio. We are offering acrylic painting courses that paint a different style each week and plan to offer abstract classes and more.
Setareh is a visual artist who has exhibited internationally. As a child she was touched by her mothers art classes in a family where music and painting formed the atmosphere in the home. She has extensive experience teaching adults and children to be creative through a range of art forms and loves helping people be creative. Setareh completed a Masters of Illustration in 2005 at the Faculty of Art and Architecture, Tehran, Iran. She also has a BA in graphic design and an MA in illustration.
CHILDREN'S classes are held in the school holiday's and at other time, offering a range of art and craft activities, including paper mache sculture, book making, acrylic painting, fluid art, collage and more.
All tutors have a Working with Children's Check and experience working with children. You can be at ease knowing your child/ren are in caring, professional and qualified hands.
FOR ALL CLASSES … you need NO painting experience. Classes are suitable for the novice as well as hobbyists and artists looking to develop skills in specific new techniques. Everyone is welcome and included. Bring your friends or come along and make new ones.
