What you'll do
In this woodworking workshop, you'll have the opportunity to learn the art of relief wood carving with a skilled wood artist. Guided by our creator Olivia O'Connor, you'll create your very own relief carving, choosing between a Koi Fish or Gum Leaves design to bring to life.With all tools and materials provided, you'll be introduced to carving gouges and techniques to shape your piece just the way you envision.Hesitant about woodworking? Don't worry, this workshop is designed for complete beginners and Olivia will guide you every step of the way. Throughout the class, you'll work with quality tools and materials, immersing yourself in the hands-on experience of transforming a flat surface into a three-dimensional work of art. You will also meet like-minded creative people and no doubt you will have some fun.By the end of the session, you'll have a completed relief carving to take home, showcasing your newfound skills and creativity.

Wood Play Studio is located on Level 2 of the Coburg Studios located on the corner of Charles and Lens Street Coburg. There is plenty of street parking around the building. Please do not park in the building carpark.

Wood Play Studio is the perfect space for beginners wanting to learn core making and design skills. And more experienced makers wanting to flex their skills in new directions. Wood Play offers group and individual sessions that are enjoyable, inclusive and non-competitive. You will not be subject to loud machinery or be crowded by others building large projects. Wood Play Studio is space where you can come and play. Guided by experienced creators, you will play with wood, paint and other materials. You can build skills by completing set projects, as your confidence grows you can design and make your own. Wood Play will get you in the zone allowing your creativity to flow.
