If you want to bring some greenery to your space and learn how to grow your own garden, join this gardening class at the Garden Pot Workshop in Sydney's Northern Beaches.
In this class, you will learn about growing plants in pots. Topics such as pruning, transplanting, propagation and design will be covered, including practical demonstrations on how to handle plants and how to repot overgrown garden pots.
Then, you are invited to choose plants from our abundant smorgasbord of plant life with over 200 plant varieties to choose from.
Comfortable workspaces and expert horticultural guidance will be provided so that you can build your own garden pot filled with an assortment of plants for you to take home.
Note: Classes may be postponed due to rain.


Knowledge required
No prior learning is required!
 
What you'll get
  • Round white ceramic bowl (16cm diameter).
  • Plants to fill you 16cm bowl from our propagation nursery of over 100 plant varieties (these include a range of succulents, flowering annuals, hoyas, grasses, ferns, vegetable seedlings, various bulbs and some edible berries such as Strawberries Blueberries & Raspberries).
  • All associated materials, tools, gloves, potting soil included to fill the included pot.
What to bring
  • Enclosed shoes, boots or sneakers please (no thongs or sandals).
  • Hat and raincoat/umbrella, sunscreen and water bottle.
  • A sturdy cardboard box (30cm) and rag/towel/plastic bag to leave in your vehicle for garden pot storage - may continue to drip after watering.

The Garden Pot Workshop is located inside Powderworks Nursery, located near the end of Wilson ave, Elanora Heights / Ingleside 2101. Drive to the end of Wilson Ave, continue past the no through road sign, onto the gravel road, then take the first right hand turn & follow signs to The Garden Pot Workshop.

Daniel Rosenbaum is a Horticulturalist, Designer and Sculptor with a background teaching Design at universities in Sydney (UTS, UNSW and TAFE).
Over the past 10 years, he established the Garden Pot Workshop as a rare plant nursery and sculpture studio that makes innovative container gardens with a diversity of plant life.
Daniel was inspired to start the Garden Pot Workshop during Post Graduate studies in Ceramics at the Nation Art School in Sydney, where he conducted research into Horticultural Therapy, Healing Gardens and 'Greening City' movements.
A plant nursery on Sydney's Northern Beaches, The Garden Pot Workshop encourages human connection with nature by promoting container gardening.
Botanical garden pots can be filled with a diversity of plants, including succulents, ferns, perennials, annuals, mosses, indoor plants, water-plants, and even small fruit trees and vegetables.
Our hands-on gardening classes provide all the plants, pots, materials, and demonstrations required for you to create your own garden pots. You'll receive guided supervision at our specialist 'Bonsai' style nursery, which is designed specifically for making gardens in pots. Our potting bench workstations are ergonomically designed, making these gardening activities easy and comfortable.
At The Garden Pot Workshop, we provide practical demonstrations and discussions to teach you how to build and maintain garden pots, including topics like:
  • How to handle plants and seedlings
  • Mixing soil for garden pots
  • Garden pot drainage requirements
  • How to adjust sunlight and shade
  • How to pull apart and re-pot overgrown container gardens
  • Pruning, training/directing the growth of plant life
  • Identifying some common pests and diseases
  • Watering your plants
  • Propagating new plants by division or cuttings and germinating seeds
