Weaving
In this hands on workshop you will learn a coil weaving technique using Raffia sourced from Madagascar. Raffia has been used in weaving for centuries throughout Europe and Africa, mixed with other fibres like wool, jute, cotton. When weaving with fibre, texture and colour amazing things are made, which are completely unique to the weaver.
During my travels throughout Europe, Asia and Japan, it became obvious how so many cultures developed their own weaving techniques derived from necessity and woven from nature. The woven items bonded people together, the makers, the hunters, gathers and fishers. Possibly where the phrase the "The fibre of our existence" came from.
I am always amazed at the different styles and shapes, colour and textures created in this class and you will be too.
Whether it be with a group of friends, sisters, a corporate event, team builder, or an open invitation workshop, this workshop is a wonderful way to bring out your creativity and generosity.
