Dive into the innate wisdom of your Radiant Body during this two-hour journey brought to you by Prue Barnes and Jamie Patara at The Light Practise Yoga Studio in Richmond.
In this beautiful event, we will weave the powerful and traditional modalities of Sound, Breath, Kundalini, and Kriya into one potent experience to connect you with the depths of your body's healing and blueprint.
This sacred gathering will honour the body and the mind, profoundly impacting your nervous system and creating a ripple of change and deep calm within yourself. This ethereal event will guide you on a personal sound and breath journey to awaken the spirit and connect with the unconscious.
Who are Prue and Jamie?
  • Our co-host and studio owner, Prue Barnes, has dedicated her life to yoga, sound, feminine embodiment, tantra, as well as nervous system regulation.
  • Meanwhile, our co-host Jamie Patara explores sound, meditation, and breathwork.
Having run multiple events together, Prue and Jamie are a dynamic duo in leading transformative practices that aim to cleanse the body, activate our inner power, and guide you on a personal journey through breath, meditation, and sound.
What is Sound Alchemy?
Sound plays a critical role in transcending the conscious into the unconscious. Sounds are made up of vibrations which affect the entire world. Organisms have their own vibratory rates, and objects have their own frequencies. These vibrations affect people too. The right combination of sounds can organise neural activity, stimulate bodies, and retune our emotions, leading to deep calm and productivity. Because sound vibrations affect the brain, brainwave patterns often change to match aspects of the sound vibrations. These vibrations can be felt through the entire body, Chakra system, and the auric field, and are a threshold between the “now” and all other realms, space and time.
Prue will guide you with the frequency of the Gong and crystal sound bowls, while Jamie will use live looping, as well as the Rav pan, Kalimba, Native American flutes, Crystal Harp, Shamanic drums, and rattles to envelop you with sound.
What is Breathwork?
Our relationship to our breath is a critical part of connecting to source, regulating our nervous system, and evolving our consciousness. All of our reactions to breathing are first instinctual and automatic, but with these practices, our reactions can become measured, controlled, and entirely within our power. The act of working with our breath has the inevitable effect of creating a stronger and more efficient resting unconscious breath. The discipline we develop with breathwork can help transform your life and your response to challenges. Learning to breathe and shifting the practices of breathwork consciously restores balance in every cell in our bones and blood.
What is Kriya?
Fundamentally, Kriya means internal action. It refers to a set of practices, mainly breath control techniques/exercises, sound and physical poses, that are practiced to unlock energy channels or Chakras in the body. Each Kriya enables subtle and direct changes in the body and mind, with simple but extraordinarily powerful techniques.
What is Kundalini?
The ancient practise of Kundalini is a type of yoga that involves chanting, mantra, breath, kriya, and physical postures to activate our Shakti—Divine Energy. This energetic awakening enhances our awareness, helps us move past the ego, and builds vitality while increasing consciousness.
What is TLP?
At The Light Practise (TLP), we are more than just your typical yoga studio. We combine the latest therapeutic developments in nervous system recovery and regulation with traditional yoga and physical movement practices. Through the use of sound, chromotherapy (colour), meditation, breathwork, feminine embodiment and traditional asana, we cultivate a sense of calm and inclusivity in an otherwise busy world.

What to bring
We supply all props – mats, bolsters, blankets – so there's no need to bring anything other than some warm clothing and a drink bottle. We'll have chai, tea, and cacao available.

Located on Swan Street, we are close to the Richmond Train Station, and tram lines. There is 2hr free parking in surrounding side streets, or ticketed parking along Swan.

Women owned and run, we weave together the Ancient Practices of Yoga - flow, yin, breath work, meditation with the latest in therapeutic modalities of Nervous System, Embodiment practices, Somatics & Trauma Release. All through our unique mix of Sensory Affect - colour, light, sound and movement.
We also have a therapy room with infrared sauna and biomat, to ease the muscles and detox available to book through email.
We welcome all ages, all levels of experience, whether you have done a hundred classes or none. We welcome you all into our community. We aim to support mental health & anxiety, increase confidence and inner connection to chronic pain and inflammation. We have created a space and teachings to allow you to connect back into yourself and community.
