I’m Valent, a professional working photographer based in Coogee in the Randwick Council area. My passion is helping people see a side of themselves they may never have thought possible.
But I didn’t grow up with a camera or a family of photographers, and we definitely couldn’t have afforded a big camera when I was a kid. Photography was something I admired from afar, flipping through National Geographic magazines at school.
Choosing to learn photography came later as an adult, and I’m proof that anyone with curiosity and determination can do it. I started by really learning the foundations—the technical side that gives you control over each shot. Without a good grasp of the basics, you can’t bring your vision to life; being “artsy” alone won’t make a photo work. As I got more comfortable, I found my real passion in photographing people and capturing genuine moments that reflect who they are.
Today, I’m grateful to create experiences that blend technique with connection, capturing those fleeting expressions that show real presence. I love sharing what I’ve learned with others. My classes focus on building confidence from the ground up, so you can tell meaningful stories through your photography, whether you’re capturing family, friends, or just exploring your creative side.
My Teaching Style
My approach is built for those who want a tailored experience that respects their time. I believe the best way to learn photography is through an interactive, hands-on approach rather than a rigid, note-heavy class.
Instead of going through a long curriculum just to fill time, we focus on what matters most to you, cutting through the fluff to provide clear, straightforward information. Whether you’re after a broad overview or an in-depth look—right down to how photons are converted into signals in the camera—I’ll adapt our session to give you the insights that truly matter.
