Join us in a unique walking adventure alongside our team of small ponies, on a journey that fosters a feeling of connection to nature and empathy for other animals. Our ponies all have different personalities, opinions, and ideas of their own, just like people do! In this experience, you'll learn how to connect authentically with these sociable, curious equines.
You will be welcomed by your guide, Karri: a horse trainer, pony lover, and local resident, at the Galston Rural Sports Facility, where our journey begins. Here you will meet our ponies and get them ready for their walk, while learning about how they are trained - using positive reinforcement and valuing the horse's point of view. After learning some pony leading skills in an enclosed space, we will embark on a beginner-friendly 4 km walk along the bridleway surrounding picturesque Fagan Park. Throughout the journey, we will enjoy the changing scenery, chat about our surroundings, and pause to admire the countryside views.
As we follow the bridleway, we may encounter other users of the trail such as dog walkers, horse riders, and cyclists. We might be lucky enough to spot some horses, sheep, cows, and even native wildlife along the way. Our path is a one-way loop leading us back to our starting point, where we will tend to the ponies' needs and reward them for their good work. You can help brush or wash them and feed them.
We wrap up our time together with some light refreshments and a friendly chat, where you'll have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have. This walking tour provides not only an enjoyable and educational experience but also an enlightening one. Our ponies will help you discover new insights about these wonderful animals.
We look forward to your company! Private bookings are welcome and available most days of the week.
  • Our ponies are our cherished companions. They expect to be treated with compassion and kindness at all times.
  • This tour is completely outdoors. We will go ahead in a sprinkle of rain, but adverse weather (such as storms, rain, or excessive heat) will force us to postpone.
  • Our walk includes uneven dirt, rocks, and grass surfaces, and these are not easily accessible via wheelchair, other walking aids, prams, or young children. Please message us to discuss an accessible or child-friendly version of this experience to meet your group's needs.

Please note: Public dates for this experience require at least 3 guests to run. In the unlikely event that we don't reach this number, we'll cancel the class; in this case we'll inform you and allow you to get a refund or reschedule, so please watch your email/SMS one day prior to the experience.
