This workshop is ideal for family groups or NDIS outings, where you will learn the secrets to connecting with animals in a sensitive and thoughtful way.
Our ponies all have different personalities, opinions and ideas of their own, just like people do! In this experience, you’ll learn how to safely befriend these sociable, curious animals.
You will be welcomed by your guide, Karri, a horse trainer, pony lover and local resident, at the Galston Rural Sports Facility. Here you will be introduced to our team of 3-5 ponies and learn about how they see the world and how we train them in a respectful and kind way.
Then it's your turn! You will be shown safe pony handling skills in an enclosed space, as well as how to groom and lead the ponies. Further fun activities await us as a group. This will vary based on the group needs and abilities. We will then feed and water the ponies before saying goodbye.
There will be plenty of opportunity for photos.
This workshop provides an enjoyable and educational experience, where you will gain insight and awareness into how others experience the world. Our ponies will help you discover new insights not only about equines but also how to relate to and empathise with other animals and people in our lives.
We look forward to your company! Private bookings are welcome and available most days of the week.
Please note:
  • Each child under 12 must have a parent or guardian to supervise them during the workshop. We recommend a private booking for family groups with any children under 12.
  • Our ponies are our cherished companions. Our ponies want to be treated with compassion and kindness at all times. This workshop does not include any riding.
  • Our activities are completely outdoors. We will go ahead in a sprinkle of rain, but adverse weather (such as storms, steady rain or excessive heat) will force us to postpone.
  • Our venue has ample parking, wheelchair-accessible restrooms and a small undercover area.
  • Our ponies may at first be wary of unusual wheelchairs or other walking aids. We will introduce them patiently and quietly to ensure that everyone feels safe and comfortable. Our group activities will vary based on the needs and abilities of our group to ensure everyone is included.

Please note: Public dates for this class require at least 3 guests to run. In the unlikely event that we don't reach this number, we'll cancel the class; in this case we'll inform you and allow you to get a refund or reschedule, so please watch your email/SMS one day prior to the class.
