Join Isabelle of Too Friendly Ceramics for a day filled with creativity as you delve into the world of plaster mould and clay slip casting.
In just five hours, you'll gain the knowledge and skills equivalent to a two-month ceramics course. Isabelle will expertly guide you through the entire slip-casting process, ensuring that you understand it thoroughly.
This workshop is tailored to your skill level and designed to expand your ceramic-making abilities, making it suitable for beginners and those with some prior experience.
Plaster moulds:
Slip casting involves pouring liquid clay into plaster moulds, creating stunning ceramic pieces. During the workshop, you'll learn the intricate art of creating your own one-part mould.
You'll also discover how to prepare the mould, mix and pour plaster, and clean and maintain your mould. These skills are essential for successful slip casting and will open up a world of creative possibilities.
Craft your clay cast:
Once you have the knowledge and confidence to work with plaster moulds, it's time to create your own clay cast.
Using pre-made moulds expertly prepared by Isabelle, you'll have the opportunity to pour your own clay slip casts. Isabelle will be there every step of the way, guiding you through the process of achieving the perfect shape and form. You'll also learn how to trim and refine your cast to bring out its full potential.
Isabelle will provide clear instructions, individual attention, and step-by-step guidance, helping you feel comfortable and empowered throughout the entire process. You're encouraged to ask questions and explore your creativity!
Leave your slip cast forms with us at the end of the day. We'll take care of glazing and firing your creations, transforming them into beautiful ceramic pieces. You can return to the studio at a later date to collect your finished artwork and proudly display it in your home or share it with loved ones.
Note: The Studio ensures every effort is taken to guarantee the survival of your work through the unpredictable ceramics process. However, the Studio can not be held liable for potential losses in the kiln firing.
