Japanese cuisine has evolved to rely on deep umami flavours, fresh produce and simple clean tastes, and is arguably one of the worlds most loved cuisines.
In this unique cooking class in Hawthorn, Steph will take you through the country’s traditional veggie-based dishes, plus some unique plant twists to your favourites too.
What you'll cook during the class:
  • Okonomayaki (Japanese savoury pancake)
  • Shitake, shredded tofu and pea pot-stickers with chilli sesame dipping sauce (contains gluten)
  • Miso glazed eggplant
  • Sushi (Maki rolls) with vegetables and tofu
  • Sushi (Nigiri) with carrot “salmon”, tomato “tuna” and oyster mushroom “scallops”
  • Raw matcha and raspberry cheesecake
At the end of the class, everyone will sit down to enjoy the delicious fruits of our labour and savour some amazing plant-based Japanese dishes. You'll also leave with the confidence to recreate these dishes again and again at home!
Please note:
Steph is only running private cooking classes at this time, either two or three hours in duration. This menu reflects a full three hour class however the two hour class is a shorter menu (see corresponding 2 hour class listing for the abbreviated Japanese Plant-Based menu).
