Origami for Kids: Ocean Theme

Learn origami folding techniques and create a series of ocean-themed creations!

7+ years & Adults     1 hour Class size 12 to 25 guests     $40

Searching for fun craft at home for kids? Get them folding cool ocean-style Origami at home! KAMI is launching live online kid's Origami classes in collaboration with Melbourne Origami Club.
In this class, kids will get the opportunity to learn and fold different models, collecting them and adding to their collection as they join us in each class. In this particular Origami class, we will be exploring an ocean theme!
Everything you need will be provided in your Craft Box and if you choose to purchase the class only, you will need to provide five pieces of 15 cm x 15cm paper in order for kids to join in the fun and learn origami folding techniques.
The size is just a guide and you are welcome to use any sizes you prefer, or you can use any square paper you can find at home for the workshop (please just make sure they have a different colour on the reverse side).
This class is designed to share the fun of folding with children. We welcome any siblings or family members to join in the fun. We are particularly thrilled to have Dr. Michael Assis, a mathematical physicist and a great origamist, teaching the classes.
Benefits of Origami for kids:
Being able to transform a flat sheet of paper into a three-dimensional form, using only hands, seems almost magical, so Origami is not just fun and pretty looking. Research shows that it helps us focus, relax and build muscle memory. Origami is used as art therapy for good reasons and it is one of the best activity for children's cognitive and fine motor skills. From age five onwards, children are able to understand instructions, follow rules and steps, and Origami provides a suitable activity to improve those developing skills. There's potential for children to discover, through Origami, the principles of math and geometry and take their fun to the next level!
