This is a uniquely tailored online workshop that includes a starter kit with a Japanese porcelain plate prepared for the class in a craft box delivered to you.
You will learn the comprehensive Art Kintsugi method step by step, following the principle of ancient Kintsugi utilising accessible materials which enable you to enjoy the creative process in the comfort of your own home.
Please note that we will be using alternative materials such as resin and gold metal powder (not 24k gold)
The process includes the repair of damaged pieces (broken, cracked, missing fragments), preparation of the surface, then a decorative finish with Japanese lacquer and gold (brass) powder.
This live online class runs for three to four hours, conducted online via Zoom. There will be plenty of time for questions as you go to learn a lot about this beautiful Japanese craft.
After completing the class, you have a beautiful Kintsugi art piece and the skills to repair your own items at home. The kit also contains extra materials for you to continue your Kintsugi art. Your teacher can assist your further practise at home.

What is Kintsugi?
Kintsugi is the century-old Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with Japanese lacquer (Urushi) dusted with powdered gold giving a new life to when otherwise items would be thrown away. In recent years this craftsmanship has been regarded as an important traditional art to influence on Modern art around the world.
Philosophy
Kintsugi express Wabi-Sabi philosophy, an embracing of imperfection, whilst appreciating artefact’s history and personal memories. Instead of disguising the damages and bringing them to the original state, Kintsugi emphasises the defects with gold, symbolising life.
