Hi I'm Michelle Chung and I've been drawing since I was 5 years old (over 35 years experience)! I was top of my high school with 3unit art in 1998 and then went to study a bachelor of Industrial Design.
I was self taught at a young age and then in 2019 I applied for and got into the Barcelona Academy of art in Barcelona, Spain, where I learned to draw and paint like the old masters, the Atelier Method, honing my techniques in charcoal, ink and oil paint.
My gift is realistic portrait fine art, and I've always been drawn to people's faces, as a child and all throughout high school I was constantly drawing in the back of my notebooks, doodling, drawing people from my imagination and also my classmates! I would also draw caricatures, cartoons and comic books.
I learned to observe, see things in a new and more specific way, and together with my personal growth background (since 2010), I was able to make decisions and judgements quickly which meant I could fail faster and upskill and improve at lightning speed
After studying and living in Spain for 5 years, I've now come back to Sydney with fresh skills, a tonne of experience to teach portrait drawing to adults.
I believe the drawing process is very much a personal development process.
Your improvement in drawing can also relate to how quickly you can make decisions, fail faster and how quickly you can let go of self doubt, self judgement and fears.
I believe that following the drawing process will not only give you amazing pieces of artwork that you can cherish, as well as motor skills and talent, but you will also discover yourself and who you really are, and let go of any habits or thoughts that don't serve your future success!
