In this story:
Meet Caroline Rowe, the innovative foodie and cookbook author who’s passionate about sustainability, seasonal produce and solo cooking.
After eating one too many burnt dinners as a child, Caroline decided to kickstart her own culinary journey. At the age of seven, she took command of the family kitchen and set out to discover the simple joys of a well-made meal. Several years later, armed with an ever-increasing collection of cookbooks, the passionate foodie picked up a plethora of essential techniques and classic kitchen wisdom, teaching herself the art (and science) of cooking.
When she discovered that individual people make up nearly a quarter of Australian households, Caroline set out to inspire others to prioritise self-care through cooking. Her goal? To empower those living in single-person households to cook for themselves in a way that’s loving, respectful and nourishing.
Now the host of her very own TV series, Cookingjust4me, Caroline is passionate about helping everyday Aussies reduce food waste and boost their health and happiness with humble home-cooked meals.
The first thing I ever made…
"Was either instant pudding or a cake from a box… My mum was a modern woman who bought into all of the packaged food of the day. I just wanted food cooked from scratch!"
I’m on a mission to…
"Inspire others to show themselves love and respect with the food they cook and bake for themselves – because the Me Matters!"
When I'm cooking, I…
"Am in my happy place – a place to be creative and show myself love and respect."
Teaching others has taught me…
"Many things... but I always find that what I'm teaching others is what I need to apply to my own life. And that’s why I love teaching."
