Kia Orana! I’m Jasmine Nicholls, one of the directors of Manea Pacifica, Australia’s leading Cook Islands entertainment company. I am excited to share my Cook Islands flower crown workshops and classes journey with you. My deep passion for Cook Islands and Polynesian culture is rooted in a family legacy that spans over 40 years. Both my parents were former dancers in accredited teams, while my in-laws are renowned for holding multiple international championship titles and for running their own dance troupes in the Cook Islands and Sydney. This strong connection to my heritage inspired me to establish Manea Pacifica in 2012, merging my love for dance, costume design, and education.
Flower crown making is something that comes naturally to us as Cook Islanders, as we live and breathe our culture daily, even while being away from home. My journey into flower crown workshops and classes began 5 years ago with numerous requests from customers, igniting my desire to share our beautiful traditions and craftsmanship. This pivotal moment helped me realise the importance of teaching as a means of passing on and preserving our cultural heritage.
Teaching brings me immense joy. There is something truly magical about witnessing my students uncover their creativity and connect with our culture through dance and design. Each workshop feels like a celebration, and I strive to foster an environment where everyone can express themselves and embrace our rich traditions while conserving them for future generations.
Manea Pacifica has had the privilege of collaborating with major clients, including Channels 7, 9, 10, ABC, Fox Sports, the NRL, the Australian Museum, Jetstar, and Air New Zealand. Our costumes and flower crowns have captivated audiences, showcasing the beauty of Polynesian artistry on television. I am particularly proud, alongside my husband, to have competed internationally and received multiple awards for best costumes, reflecting our commitment to excellence and passion for our craft.
With over 12 years of teaching experience, I have had the pleasure of instructing more than 1, 000 students and conducting workshops for respected institutions like the Australian Museum. My dedication to this art form has been recognised and celebrated.
I invite you to embark on this incredible journey of creativity, culture, and community with me. Whether you’re looking to learn our beautiful traditions, bond with friends, or plan a unique tropical luau hens party, our classes offer the perfect opportunity. Join us in celebrating our heritage and creating something beautiful together, all while enjoying a fun and engaging experience!
