What you will learn:

  • Make up to six beads, with four types of surface decoration.
We will have a 10-minute break for hydration and to rest the body.
What is lampworking and why you’ll love it:
Lampworking is the art of shaping glass by melting it with a torch. This technique allows you to create intricate beads, small sculptures and decorative pieces by manipulating molten glass. It’s a process that combines heat, tools and gravity to form unique, colourful works of art.
Bliss has fallen in love with lampworking because it offers endless creative possibilities, much like ceramics. Each piece of glass reacts slightly differently to temperature depending on its size and colour, providing constant opportunities for experimentation. What she finds most appealing is how it demands your full attention. A moment of distraction can lead to cracks or melting mishaps, making it a deeply rewarding, meditative and focused process.
If you struggle to finish creative projects, like Bliss does, lampworking might be your perfect fit. The process requires constant engagement and once you get the hang of it, you can produce beautiful, one-of-a-kind pieces in a short amount of time. It's a satisfying, start-to-finish experience.
