Looking to polish up on your knife skills? Our knife skills workshop is an ideal class for experienced home cooks, chefs and enthusiasts looking to sharpen up their skills with a cooking blade!
During this lesson, you will be shown the basic knife skills that will speed up preparation time and cutting uniform sizes to cook your products evenly. You’ll learn about knife safety, knife construction, the most common kitchen knives, classic knife cuts and a few specialty cutting styles.
We will focus on fruits and vegetables to chop, slice and dice, and practice some cuts like julienne, batons and chiffonade.
Additionally, you will put your knife skills to the test by preparing an Asian chicken salad. Learn how to use your knife like a pro, improve your food presentation and take highly valuable knowledge to put into practice in your own kitchen.
Please note: Sydney Cooking School (SCS) reserves the right to cancel or reschedule a class for reasons concerning SCS. If a class has been cancelled due to low attendance, sickness or any other matter regarding SCS, all students will be notified within 48 hours of the class commencement date, and the option to reschedule to another date, or full refunds provided.

Sydney Cooking School opened in 2010 when Executive Chef Brett Deverall pursued his dream to share his love andpassion of cooking in a fun and relaxed learning environment. We have a variety of themed menus and packages available, and our formats are suitable to anyone, from the absolute beginner to the more passionate cook. As well as our regularly scheduled classes, we offer masterclasses in Pastry, Chicken & Duck and Pork & Cider, as well as Children’s School Holiday classes.
If you prefer to be out of the Kitchen join us in our fabulous BBQ area for one of our Popular BBQ classes – Things really heat up in these classes so ensure you dress comfortably.
