In this two-day workshop, you will have the wonderful opportunity to learn the intricate techniques of Kenmare Needle Lace from talented tutor Jo Martens. Discover the beauty and elegance of this traditional flat needle lace, which was developed in the 19th century Ireland as a means to uplift women and girls out of poverty.
Through the guidance of Jo, you will become skilled in crafting this stunning lace using just a needle and thread. Over the course of the workshop, you will master nine different needle lace stitches as you create a sampler of a laid cordonnel of nine squares. Each square will showcase a unique stitch:
  • Chord Stitch
  • Brussels Point
  • Double Brussels Point
  • Pea Stitch
  • Shell Stitch
  • Chord Stitch with Diamond
  • Treble Spanish Point
  • Pops

The Guild is two minutes' walk from Concord West station. Trains are frequent. Free parking is available in surrounding streets but parking in Queen Street is time-limited.
