If you're looking for ways to get your body moving, want to learn a bit more about history or are just looking for fun things to do in Sydney, come along to this dance class and discover the rich history of 18th century French dance.
18th-century French dance is all about grace, elegance and expressing emotion—think Versailles, extravagant balls and King Louis XIV!
This class is an introduction to this wonderful dance style. Your talented teacher will introduce you to the foundational steps, how to use your arms to express emotion and popular court dances of the early 18th century.
The class has a special focus on intertwining the relationship between dance and music. It doesn't matter if you're a first-timer or you're well-versed in the history of dance, as the class can be enjoyed by all. Of course, if you love baroque music, all the better!
Your teacher prides themself on creating a non-judgmental environment for all to dance in. Historical dance is such a rarely danced style that everyone in the class tends to be in the same boat - no experience at all!
You'll leave the class immersed in the dance and traditions of this unique period of history, full of newfound dance skills and with a huge smile on your face.

Historical dance is beautiful art that is rarely taught. I'm passionate about introducing this art to the wonderful Sydney community.
I've researched, practiced and studied European styles from the 16th to the 19th Century across the world. I've presented at conferences in the USA, performed in Germany, Portugal and the UK and of course taught across Australia.
I hold a degree in Historical Performance and am halfway through a Masters in Historical Dance Music and have 15 years of Classical Ballet training.
