Don’t be a tool, learn to use one. In this practical class for female beginners, you’ll learn how to use common tools, undertake your own projects and become a DIY queen!

Covering the humble hammer, nail, electric drill, and jigsaw, you’ll be taken step-by-step through the process of making a planter box to take home. This workshop will also cover safety, measuring and cutting timber, and components, proper handling and other applications of tools.
The basic principles and skills you’ll pick up are easily transferred to a plethora of at-home DIY creations. This class aims to empower women with confidence and real-world skills in a fun, relaxed, and inclusive environment. Discard heteronormativity, pick up a hammer, and smash the patriarchy. Sisters are doin’ it for themselves!
This workshop is strictly limited to 10 spots.

Helena is the boss-lady and resident handywoman at Work-Shop Melbourne. She’s a big fan of DIY in pursuit of creativity, independence and frugality, having built various planter boxes, frames and a sick-as quarter pipe (which you can check out during class). There’s no project Helena won’t tackle; she’s condensed her experiences and is keen for students to learn from her mistakes and eureka moments.
