Welcome to our gemstone jewellery making workshop in Melbourne, where the age-old lost wax carving technique meets modern style. No experience? No problem! This class is perfect for beginners, offering the ultimate introduction to this relaxing craft.
Using the versatile medium of wax, you’ll dive into the art of setting gemstones, getting hands-on with three specially chosen stones that can endure the heat of the casting process. We’ve got a stunning rainbow of colours for you to pick from, helping your final piece is as unique as you are.
You’ll also learn the basics of lost wax carving, from casting gemstones to the final metal finish. By the end of our class, you’ll walk away with a wealth of knowledge and new skills, and after a few weeks after polishing, you'll be able to pick up your own silver necklace that’s bound to impress!
Please note: This class requires at least 5 students to run. In the unlikely event that we don't get this number of students, we'll cancel the class and fully refund you and inform you via email, so please watch your email a few days prior to the class.

Caity Lane is a Melbourne-based designer and silversmith, and the head and hands behind Metalhead Jewellery. Using the lost wax casting technique, Caity explores shapes and textures outside of the jewellery norm. After completing a Bachelor of Design at the College of Fine Arts/UNSW Sydney, Caity launched Metalhead Jewellery in Sydney in 2014. She then made the move to Melbourne, feeling it a  more suitable environment for her quirky aesthetic. Caity’s designs are inspired by heavy metal, raw mountainscapes and handmade imperfection.
