Capture amazing, quality food in unique and interesting ways at this food styling photography course with Davide Tonucci. Guided by Davide, you'll learn how to plate and style up three picture-perfect dishes!
This fun and informal workshop will take you through the fundamentals of food styling so you can create amazing food images using props and lighting you have at home - along with your smartphone, a few insider tricks and some very clever apps!
You’ll get the basic skills (and loads of tips, tricks and confidence) to plate, style and compose some very “likeable” and tasty food pics.
What we'll be capturing:
  • Picture-perfect antipasto platters (everybody say cheese!)
  • Plating with produce (a what's in season challenge)
  • A sweet and creamy parfait glass dessert (more sprinkles, please)
This class is perfect for food bloggers, Instagrammers and café owners wanting to improve their food styling and photography. It is also suitable for home cooks and foodies who want to learn more about plating and styling.
What you'll learn:
  • Some food photography do’s and don’ts
  • Plating your dishes and using props to create a context
  • Lighting
  • Composition: how to fill the space, how to use negative space
  • Finishing and posting your images
Please note: This is not a cooking class, so you’ll be working with quality pre-prepared foods, and the focus will be on plating and photographing. Although there will be some food available for snacking (and you may eat your masterpieces when you’re done snapping), this workshop does not include a full sit-down meal. We are not able to provide substitute ingredients for people with allergies or food intolerances. All students must be over 18+ years of age.

Davide Tonucci

Davide Tonucci

5.0 (1)

Born and raised in a seaside town on the Italian east coast, Davide’s passion for food was ignited as a child, watching and helping his mamma and nonna make fresh pasta.

In his 20’s he began working in local seafood restaurants. He spent time developing his craft under the supervision of a Michelin star chef - and later earned the position of head chef for a well-renowned restaurant in his hometown.
Davide's love of travel, adventure and new experiences brought him to Australia in 2011 - and he quickly found his feet in kitchens across Sydney’s fine dining scene.
A love for fresh seasonal produce drives Davide's food, as he prepares classic and modern dishes - always with an equal portion of both Italy and Australia in his heart.
