What you'll do
This 7-hour course is nationally recognised and is designed for individuals who have direct involvement with food or food-contact surfaces, such as cutlery, plates, and bowls, as part of their daily work duties. It focuses on promoting personal hygiene practices among food handlers to minimise the risk of food contamination and subsequent foodborne illnesses. The unit emphasizes the importance of adhering to established organizational procedures and effectively identifying and managing potential food hazards.Typical participants who undertake this course include cooks, chefs, caterers, kitchen stewards, kitchen hands, bar and food and beverage attendants. In some cases, room attendants and front office staff may also benefit from completing this training. Compliance with the requirements outlined in the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code is mandatory for all food handlers.Upon completion of the course, participants will acquire the following skills:
- Follow Hygiene Procedures and Identify Food Hazards
- Report Any Personal Health Issues
- Prevent Food Contamination
- Prevent Cross-Contamination by Washing Hands
Knowledge required
Learners must be 16 years of age and over at the time of course commencement.There are no prerequisite units for this course.
