Looking for relaxing Melbourne activities? Join Live For Art's calming fluid art workshop and learn new skills from a friendly professional!
In this workshop, you will be using a unique pouring technique to create cells with silicone oil. Creating cells that stay put is one of the great challenges of this art form. This technique you will try involves layering your paints in a cup before pouring.
You will do a 'flip cup' or if you prefer an 'open pour'. With guidance from industry expert Julie, you will learn her best tips and tricks to create a colourful masterpiece you'll be proud to take home and hang on your wall.
This workshop will cover:
  • How to prepare your canvas
  • How to mix paints and paint mediums suitable for this technique
  • Pouring mediums and recipes that are good for this technique and what difference this makes.
  • How to choose colours and layer your paints in the cup.
  • How to clean your dried painting ready for varnishing.
After a short demonstration from Julie and some practice on a small canvas, you will create your masterpiece on a 12 x16 inch (30x40cm) gallery-wrapped canvas or similar which you can collect after three or four days of drying time (or arrange to have sent to you).
If you're looking for things to do in Melbourne this weekend, why not get in touch with your creative side and make a stunning artwork in this fluid art workshop - it'll leave you feeling fulfilled and confident in your newfound skills!
Please note: You will use non-toxic acrylic paint.
