Karnataka cuisine ranges from pure veg food on one end of the spectrum and non-veg on another. Coconut, however, is an important ingredient and is found in almost every dish in some form or the other.
Physiographically, Karnataka is divided into four distinct regions—the coastal plain, the hill ranges, the Karnataka Plateau, and the black-soil tract.
In this Karnataka series at Heavenly Morsel, we will be focusing on the coastal and hill regions which are my favourite culinary areas of this state.
